Adult-Sized Rag Blankets

After seeing a baby blanket I made for a co-worker, two of my other co-workers decided they wanted one too. We went shopping for fabric and I got these done the first week after school. It's so much fun to see people love something I make! I really love how they both turned out.

Superhero Cape

Every kid needs a superhero cape, right? I bought a cheap mens t-shirt at Wal-Mart, and added a little lightning bolt in the front where it fastens with velcro and a big lightning bolt on the back. I already had the felt and velcro, so this was a very cheap project! Excuse the bad photos - little superheroes don't like to stand still.

Fabric Bookmarks

I wanted to send a little thank you to some friends for letting us visit their farm. I had some of this cute farm animal fabric leftover from my bookshelf quilt, so I made a few bookmarks.

Hope Signs

I have two friends who are crazy about everything Nautical. So I wanted to make something for them, and decided on these signs. I love how they turned out. I used paint tape to do the stripes, and vinyl to make a stencil for the letters and anchors.

Bleached Shirt

I wanted to make a gift for a friend who LOVES Disney. I used vinyl to cut out the letters and did a little test to practice spraying the bleach. I love how it turned out!

Masks and Tails

I watched E's friend today while her mom was at girl's camp. They wanted to make masks and tails, so I pulled out the felt. E wanted a lion tail, and his friend wanted a "cookoo tail with every color." So we whipped up some tails and masks. They had so much fun playing!

Sunshine & Lemonade Party

Here is everything from Susie's Sunshine and Lemonade party:

I ordered her invites from this etsy shop: ETSY

I used mason jars for adults and cups for the kids. I found the cups and tablecloth at Target! Perfect!

I made strawberry lemonade and sparkling pineapple lemonade.

I was so excited to display her month pictures. I also displayed her quilt square (even though it's still round). I'll do a separate post on it.
Our friend Lynsey made the smash cake and cupcakes. SO adorable!

I served popcorn (or cop-orn as Emmett called it) in cute paper cones, strawberry lemonade cookies, carrots and ranch, and fruit kabobs.

I loved the mason jars. I found the lids on ebay.

The front door (Thanks mom!)

Her chair was all prettied up too. She had a blast!

Book Swap Party

My book club has a hard time meeting anymore, so I wanted to plan something fun. I saw an idea to have a book swap party, where everyone brings a book to give away and we swap. I planned a trivia game with quotes from the books we've read over the years. I printed those out on old library cards. The invitations used a template I found on pinterest, and then I also gave a bookplate to include in the books to explain why they brought that book. We had a great time laughing and reminiscing!

Baby Flannel Blanket

A dear friend from work is having a baby after a long hard struggle. I was SO happy to be able to make this blanket for her baby!

Elsa Cape

I did a craft exchange with a friend - she crocheted Elsa and Anna hats for my nieces, and I made an Elsa cape for her daughter. I used felt for around the neck, and glued some snowflakes with rhinestones around it. It's so fun making girly things!

Tool Party

For E's third birthday we went with a tool theme. I found the cutest little hammers at Harbor Freight Tools for each kid. They also got aprons from Home Depot. I also found these cute kits at WalMart to put together little cars and trains. We also played pin the nail on the hammer. Then we had hot dogs for lunch. My friends made the cute toolbox cake - it was so yummy! I also made his cardboard number to use as decoration just like his other parties. They're going to hang on his wall in his room!

3-Year-Old Shirt

Here's the shirt I made for E's third birthday. I love doing these. I know one year he'll be old enough to object!

Playroom Rules Sign

I saw this idea on pinterest and I really wanted to make it for my dear friend who watches my kids and her grandson. I had all the supplies except for the little frame for the photo. I looked at many versions on pinterest, and then checked out my cricut cartridges and worked up a practice version with paper. Another friend took the adorable picture, and I absolutely love how it turned out.  I couldn't even wait for the glue to dry before I gave it to her! The most challenging part was determining the size and font for the rules... it took a while.

Practice Copy
Finished Version
Photo that inspired the project! :)

Valentine's Day (Part 2)

Here are the rest of the fun valentines E got in his box. They're all his favorite things...

Robot coloring valentine
Love bug - the bug grows in water. A LOT.

Dinosaurs
Curious George, his favorite show. He calls it "Monkey George"
Lion - he also loves Lion King
This was one of his favorites. He's been looking for pennies everywhere!
What could be more perfect than a Hippie Van toy that says "love" on it for Valentine's Day!?
I actually made these for my students, but E loves minions so he got one too!
